Casa 1930 retains the charm of a historic townhouse while introducing a bold contemporary character within. With its foundations set in the rock and precarious floors, the building underwent a transformative renovation that recalibrated its interior proportions, turning the attic into a panoramic terrace overlooking Ibla.
The need to create more bedrooms in a space set against the rock led to the use of lightweight iron and patterned glass partitions, striking a balance between natural light and privacy. The limestone façade and the pitch stone balcony were carefully restored to preserve their original patina.
Inside, the nearby view of the blue majolica dome of the Church of Santa Maria dell’Itria inspired a Pop-style intervention, with multi-patterned, polychrome ceramic tiles and vibrant geometric wall designs. The result is a kaleidoscopic effect that brings the lively colors and folklore of the Mediterranean into the heart of the home.
